Toronto is the most populous city in Canada and is the capital city of the province of Ontario. Located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario it acts as a brilliant backdrop for wedding photographers in Toronto to use. A network of three rivers: the Humber River, the Don River east of downtown at opposite ends of the Toronto Harbour, and the Rouge River at the city’s eastern limits all intersect in and around the City of Toronto.
Toronto covers an area of 630 square kilometres and has a 46-kilometre long waterfront shoreline, on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario but has numerous wedding photography locations that can be perfect for any bride’s wedding. The Toronto Islands and Port Lands extend out into Lake Ontario, creating a sheltered cove known as the Toronto Harbour just south of the downtown core. A favourite wedding photography location in Toronto.
Even though the size of the city isn’t huge, the centre of the GTA, a.k.a. Toronto, is the most densely populated region in Southern Ontario and is a well known part of the Golden Horseshoe. It’s density allows for a city population of 2,615,060 residents (according to 2011 Census). The Greater Toronto Area, had a population of 5,583,064 (this number includes Toronto).
As an internationally know metropolis, Toronto accepts it’s role as an important destination for travellers and immigrants from around the globe. The city’s reputation is well known for being one of the world’s most diverse cities which you can see from the demographics of the city. About 49% of the population of Toronto, was born outside Canada.
